Suntory Beverage & Food Limited will gradually roll out 31.3g 2L bottles that are the lightest produced in Japan (excluding the mineral water category^*1) for 11 products^*2 including Iyemon and Suntory Oolong Tea beginning in late January 2014.

In our proactive efforts to make lighter plastic bottles we are doing more than just reducing their weight: we are always seeking to lower our environmental impact and provide easy-to-use products out of consideration for usability as well.

The weight of these new plastic bottles will be 31.3g, the lightest class of 2L bottle produced in Japan after our Suntory Natural Mineral Water. By reducing the weight of our current 2L plastic bottles by approximately 15%, we have made it possible to cut around 1,200t of petroleum resin usage (equivalent to around 1,100kl of crude oil) and around 4,800t of CO2 emissions.

In addition to reducing the weight of containers, we, as part of our long-held objective of lowering our environmental impact, have introduced the "RePET Bottle," a plastic bottle made entirely from recycled PET resin via our B2B mechanical recycling system, as well as a 16μm roll label, the thinnest in Japan and made with an 80% blend of recycled PET resin from plastic bottles collected in the market.

In the future we will work even more proactively on environmental measures for product development and containers that meet consumer needs.

• *1 We use a 29.8g plastic bottle, the lightest made in Japan, for our 2L Suntory Natural Mineral Water. Furthermore, the 11.3g plastic bottle for the 550ml Suntory Natural Mineral Water is the lightest domestically made bottle in its category.
• *2 We will use the bottles for the majority of 11 products' units. The 11 products are Iyemon, Iyemon Zeitaku Reicha, Iyemon Koime, Iyemon Genmaicha, Iyemon Hojicha, Suntory Oolong Tea, Abura Sappari Iki Sukkiri, Green Dakara, Green Dakara Yasashii Mugicha, Dakara Fresh Start and Vitamin Water.
